As part of this year’s birthday celebrations for Milton Keynes reaching the big 5-0, David Lock Associates (Town Planners and Urban Designers) have created this website dedicated to the beautiful trees in the Borough.
Milton Keynes boasts over 5,000 acres of parkland, rivers, lakes and woodland including over 22 million trees. Here we map out the location of 49 of these trees – nominated by staff at DLA who have worked and lived in the area for many years - for either their location, their aesthetic qualities or personal memories they may hold.
Please explore this site; we encourage you to post comments and images on social media following a visit to a specific tree. You will also find a page to vote for a 50th tree to be planted to celebrate Milton Keynes’ anniversary.
Explore here to find trees by place - each has a unique story to tell. You will also find facts about different tree species. We hope you feel inspired to visit trees both local to you and in areas you don’t yet know.
Search through these photographs to spot a familiar or interesting tree. Can you guess the species or where it is? By selecting you can learn more; its history, traditional uses and where to find it within the Milton Keynes area.
